NITA AARTSEN QUINTET Feat. DIAN PRATIWI

Nita Aartsen gilt in ihrer Heimat Indonesien als die Grand Dame des Jazz. Im zarten Alter von drei Jahren begann sie Klavier zu lernen, wurde als junges Ausnahmetalent zur Staatspianistin und entdeckte dann ihre musikalische Freiheit im Jazz. Sie ist bekannt für ihre einzigartige, energiegeladene Mischung aus Jazz, Latin und zeitgenössischer Musik. Weltweit hat sie bereits mit einigen der besten, internationalen Latin und Jazzmusikern performt, u.a. Richard Bona oder Natalie Cole. Seit über 30 Jahren widmet sie ihr musikalisches Talent vielen internationalen Kollaborationen, hat die internationale Jazzcamp-Akademie in Indonesien gegründet und arbeitet mit vielen Veranstaltern und Jazzinstitutionen auf der ganzen Welt zusammen. Auf der diesjährigen Europatournee gibt sie 22 Konzerte in insgesamt 10 Ländern. Begleitet wird sie von drei jungen, indonesischen Nachwuchstalenten: Michael Ananda (19, Gitarre), Brandon Julio (21, Bass), Rega Dauna (24, Harmonika), sowie von dem Amsterdamer Drummer und (Body-) Percussionist Olaf Keus. Als „Special Guest“ bereichert die in Dortmund lebende, ebenfalls indonesisch-stämmige Jazzsängerin Dian Pratiwi das Quintett, die für ihre atemberaubende Soul-Stimme und ihre phänomenale Bühnenpräsenz bekannt ist. Dian ist langjährige Freundin von Nita und ebenfalls eine Ikone der indonesischen Jazzszene. Sie ist Dozentin für Jazzgesang an der Glen Buschmann Jazzakademie in Dortmund.

Nita Aartsen is considered the grand dame of jazz in her native Indonesia. At the tender age of three she began to learn the piano, became the state pianist as a young exceptional talent and then discovered her musical freedom in jazz. She is known for her unique, energetic blend of jazz, latin and contemporary music. She has already performed with some of the best international Latin and jazz musicians around the world, including Richard Bona and Natalie Cole. For over 30 years she has been dedicating her musical talent to many international collaborations, founded the international Jazzcamp Academy in Indonesia and works with many promoters and jazz institutions around the world. On this year’s European tour she is giving 22 concerts in a total of 10 countries. She is accompanied by three young Indonesian up-and-coming talents: Michael Ananda (19, guitar), Brandon Julio (21, bass), Rega Dauna (24, harmonica), as well as the Amsterdam drummer and (body) percussionist Olaf Keus. As a „special guest“, the Dortmund-based jazz singer Dian Pratiwi, also of Indonesian origin, enriches the quintet, who is known for her breathtaking soul voice and her phenomenal stage presence. Dian is a longtime friend of Nita and also an icon of the Indonesian jazz scene. She teaches jazz singing at the Glen Buschmann Jazz Academy in Dortmund.
